EMPTY NEST
Well, we all get to that stage where our kids have grown and one by one they leave the nest, and we are defunct at mothers as we know it. With mixed emotions we take stock of our lives and think what next? I could have done this picture with a sobbing mother throwing herself from her lonely empty nest.....but, I've decided this mother is proud of the job she has done , she has raised a well rounded child and its time to let her baby fly unaided. ( champagne of course is on the picnic blanket hidden below)

Wendi, you do such a wonderful job of conveying expressions. I love this it makes a person happy that their children are leaving home. Perhaps you could market this one to the women of the world. Kay
Thanks for the feedback magicmyst !I would love to do her sobbing with her legs dangling over the nest, that would probably be more honest for some.
This one is perfect... it just seems to sing "spring/summer"... it's all bright and alive and the detail! I love how her hair is all different beautiful blossomy colours. Same with the nest. What a great part of motherhood to include in your painting series.
I think my mum will probably feel like this when my sister and I finally leave home... I guess the parents of "generation Y" (who apparently stay at home for years and years) will be more happy and relieved than upset.
Keep up the good work :)
As a parent of generation Y, it is mixed emotion believe me !!
But I'm really happy you liked this piece. Its one of my favorites.
beautifully done.
you express the feelings so well.
a really lovely work.
Thanks Pearl. (love your avatar)
